I just got back from a vacation in Colorado and wanted share some of the fun things we did while we were there.
In the town of Idaho Springs there is a frozen waterfall you can walk to. 600-foot Bridal Veil Falls plunging into Clear Creek with a 120-year-old water wheel in the foreground. The water wheel was built in 1893 by miner Charlie Tayler, who said he lived to the age of 94 because he never kissed women or took baths.
It is kind of a difficult hike to St. Mary's Glacier this time of year but we had ice cleats on our boots which I am very grateful. At the foot of the glacier is Mary's Lake. It was my first time to walk out to the middle of a frozen lake. Pretty cool!
There wasn't a concert but we went up to the Red Rock Amphitheater to see what that is all about. I would love to see a show there.
There's gold in them thar hills! The Argo Gold Mine and Mill was the largest gold mine in its time. A four mile hand dug tunnel that started in 1893 and closed in 1943 when they hit water which flooded the tunnel.
We were in Colorado February 2017. It was a great vacation with lots of awesome memories I can't wait to turn into scrapbook pages.
What are some fun things you've done in Colorado in the winter besides ski?
